‘Lifeness check’ improves the security of ID check
Up until this moment, the ID check during the onboarding phase is done by uploading an ID and taking a selfie. Unfortunately, this isn’t ideal, because someone with bad intentions could hold someone else’s portrait picture in front of the camera during the selfie moment, for example. That’s why we added a so-called ‘lifeness check’: a simple procedure to make sure the person in front of the camera is alive and kicking.
How it works? Surprisingly simple: we ask the client to smile briefly before taking the selfie. This facial expression is registered and only when the client stops smiling, the system takes the selfie. This way, the system knows that indeed a real person is in front of the camera. Safety fist!
You will come across this feature automatically during the onboarding of new customers.
